POLICE OFFICER – RECRUITS & LATERALS

The Tillamook Police Department is accepting applications for an eligibility list of recruits in the event an opening occurs within the department. The process to apply has changed from prior recruitment rounds—please read all instructions carefully and be sure to complete each step. An link to detailed instructions is below.
Both entry-level applicants and Police Officers currently certified by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (or equivalent) are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications: Applicants must be 21 years of age; a United States citizen; a high school graduate (or equivalent), possess a valid Oregon driver’s license at the time of appointment; able to be certified by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, or, for laterals, be a certified police officer with a minimum of one year experience as a police officer within the last two years; and meet department physical ability standards.
Salary / Benefits: $49,212 – $67,104 Annually
The City of Tillamook provides an excellent health coverage plan for employee and eligible dependents, including medical, vision, prescription, dental, life insurance, and long term disability. Officers pay 10% of medical premium at present. All uniforms and equipment provided. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the regular rate of pay. City of Tillamook employees participate in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement (PERS) retirement plan with the employee paying their 6%. Paid vacation and sick time with the ability to accrue up to 80 hours in compensatory time. Employees earn 10 hours holiday pay each month. Eligible employees may receive incentive pay for special assignments such as; Detective, Evidence/Property Officer can earn up to 3% above their base pay. DPSST Certification pay; Intermediate is 3%, Advanced is 5% . Shift differential of $100 a month for those Officers assigned night shift during that month. Each Officer receives a $50 a month cellular phone allowance. For those Officer who are assigned as a Field Training Officer will receive $50 a month when actively training.
