It’s not an every day occurrence in Tillamook to hear a report of baby ducklings stuck in a storm drain. That is exactly what the City Public Works crew and police were called out for this morning. When the crew arrived at the location, sure enough, twelve baby ducklings, not more than a couple of days old, were all swimming around inside of the storm drain located in a parking lot. The mother duck was not near as calm as her swimming babies. She circled the workers as they estimated the situation, removed the drain grate, and proceeded to pick up the ducklings one by one and place them in a pet carrier provided by the police. After placing the ducklings, and then the mother duck, into the carrier the family was relocated to a nearby pond where they happily went on with their day. Thank you to our great Public Works crew and Police Officer who rescued the duck family.
