The Tillamook Urban Renewal Agency (TURA) has been working on the 2nd Street Pilot Project and have started to implement the first phase of the project by installing benches. The project area is the four blocks on 2nd Street between Laurel and Stillwell Avenues. The benches have been placed on 2 of the blocks in the middle of the project area and are available for public use.
As the 2nd Street Pilot Project continues, in conjunction with the ODOT Hwy 101/US 6 Intersection project and the City’s Crosstown Connections project, plans and implementation of new sidewalks, building facade improvements, street lamps, and other design amenities as described in the recently adopted City Design Standard Resolution 1625 (please click here to review those design standards) will begin to pop-up on 2nd Street.
As visualized by the original TURA stakeholders in 2006, a pedestrian boulevard look on 2nd Street is beginning to take shape. Much of this look will be implemented on Main and Pacific Avenues as part of the ODOT Intersection project.
